FAQ

  • Do I need any experience to take a class?

Nope! We offer classes for all levels—from total beginners to experienced potters looking to refine their skills.

  • What should I wear to class?

Pottery is messy! Wear comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting dirty and closed-toe shoes. We provide aprons, but clay has a mind of its own.

  • What’s included in the class fee?

Most classes include instruction, studio time, tools, clay, glazes, and firing. Any exceptions will be noted in the class description.

  • Can I keep the pieces I make?

Yes! You'll glaze and fire your favorite pieces to take home. Details vary depending on the class.

  • What happens if I miss a class?

Classes can be made up if there are open spaces in another class. You can also come during open studio hours, and one of our studio assistants will be able to help you catch up.

  • When will my work be ready to pick up?

Glazed work is usually ready 2–3 weeks after your last class. We’ll email you when it’s ready!

  • Can kids take classes?

Yes! We offer kids' classes, camps, and birthday parties. Check our website for current offerings.

  • What about Parking?

Parking on the street can sometimes be a challenge, but parking is plentiful in the 3 parking lots in the Hamlet. One is located at the end of Vineyard where it meets Main St. There is another lot on Milton near Hudson Ale Works and a small lot between Studio 89 and Sal’s Place. Please leave a little extra time to get parked and settled.

  • Do you offer private events or parties?

Absolutely. We love hosting birthday parties, team building events, and private workshops. Email us to plan something special.

  • Where do I sign up?

You can register for all classes, camps, and events at studio89hv.com.

  • Can I just come in and use the studio?

Studio access is available to students currently enrolled in a class and to members during designated open studio hours. We do not offer drop-in access at this time.

  • What’s your cancellation policy?

Cancellations made more than a week before the class begins will be refunded minus a small processing fee. No refunds for cancellations less than 7 days in advance.
